New DIY Databases

The VC/UHV Library announces the addition of new online resources provided by TexShare, the state-wide library resource sharing program.  These new resources were selected primarily for the public library sector of TexShare, but since we get them we can share them with you.  These new online resources can provide a little DIY diversion for us during a busy fall semester.

Hobbies and Crafts Reference Center – provides detailed how-to instructions and creative ideas to meet the interests of virtually every hobby enthusiast.  Full text from over 1,500 6454684764magazines and books as well as over 720 videos.   Among the many categories are model building, bell ringing (yes, bell ringing), caving, Chinese knotting, hat making, juggling, historical reenactment, and many more that make life interesting.

Home Improvement Reference Center – features full-text content from leading home improvement magazines with images not found elsewhere online, and videos of popular home repair projects.  Includes full text from more than 120 reference books, 45 magazines, 35,000 images and nearly 100 videos.

Small Engine Repair Reference Center – provides users with detailed, user-friendly repair guides for all manner of small engines (not automobiles).  Content comes from over 470 full-text reference books with original photos and illustrations.

Links for these online resources can be found on the library’s home page at the A-Z List of All Databases and on appropriate subject guides. Enjoy!
